Slim pickings today racing fans and watching some football may indeed be your best bet. But, we will try to make a couple bucks for our followers none the less. Here we go:
6th Race Monmouth Park-#5 Pretty Dude (5-1) may get the money at what looks to be a very square price. He is dropping to a $25k tag from a $40k last time out and the stable may have finally figured out how to put some speed into him as evidenced i his last start. If he shows that speed here, it will be all over early with everyone chasing minor placings. I am recommending 30 units to Win & Place and 5-unit exacta boxes 5-6, 5-10 & 5-3.
6th Race Gulfstream Park-#6 One More Score (9-5) may be just too quick for this group. The early speed he flashed in his last start coupled with the class drop from state-bred MSW into a $50k Maiden Claimer may prove to be the winning combination. The layoff from August 6th concerns me, but none of these will be going to the Breeder's Cup and they all have question marks regarding their fitness. This one at least has shown a breath of life and that is enough for me to make him my Best Bet of the Day wagering 40 units Win & Place along with a 10-unit exacta box 6-7.
6th Race Woodbine-This race is a real "dog's breakfast" and just screams "PASS ME". However, this season we have found these races to be "boxable" with longshots either winning the event or sneaking in to make huge exactas (and triples). So here we go! I am recommending a 5-unit exacta box using #4, #6, #5 & #8.
